How to Max Out Online Duty-Free Shopping
Lower final price with coupon + card + points combinations.
Online duty-free prices are almost always lower than walk-in airport prices — often 15–30% cheaper with the right combination of coupons, card discounts, and loyalty points. Here is how to stack them correctly.
Step 1: Choose the Right Operator
🏬 Lotte Duty Free — largest range, best for cosmetics and K-beauty brands.
🏬 Shilla Duty Free — known for luxury brands and premium liquor.
🏬 Shinsegae Duty Free — strong card discount deals, good food-gift selection.
Compare prices across all three before purchasing — the same item can vary by 5–10%.
Step 2: Stack Your Discounts
🆕 New member coupon
Register a new account to get a welcome coupon (usually 10–15% off). You can use one family member's new account per trip.
💳 Card payment discount
Specific card and bank combinations offer additional 5–10% off. Check your duty-free operator's 'card benefit' page before checkout.
⭐ Loyalty points
Points from previous purchases can reduce the price further. Some operators let you combine points with a card discount in the same transaction.
Step 3: Pickup Timing
⏰ Duty-free pickup counters get very busy 60–90 minutes before major departure waves. Aim to collect your items at least 2 hours before your flight.
📍 Pickup counters for T1 and T2 are located post-security (airside, 4F). You cannot collect before going through security.
📱 Keep the order confirmation number on your phone — you'll need it at the counter.
⚠️ Customs Allowance on Return
Korea allows USD 800 in duty-free goods per person on re-entry (plus 2 bottles of alcohol max 2L, 200 cigarettes). Exceeding this will trigger customs duties.
