Jeju Island is Korea's Hawaii — a volcanic island off the southern coast with dramatic lava tube caves, crater lakes, pristine beaches, and the towering Hallasan at its center. This 3-night 4-day guide shows you the best of Jeju, ideally explored with a rental car.
1Day 1 — West Jeju
- Fly from Seoul (Gimpo → Jeju, 1 hr). Pick up rental car at Jeju International Airport.
- Hyeopjae Beach: Turquoise water and white sand — one of Korea's most beautiful beaches.
- Hallim Park: Subtropical gardens with famous lava tube caves (Hyeopjaegul & Ssangyonggul).
- Olle Trail Route 14: A 2-hour coastal walk with ocean views and haenyeo (women divers) at work.
- Stay in Jeju City or Aewol area.
2Day 2 — East Jeju
- Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak): A 182 m tuff cone — UNESCO World Heritage. Hike to the rim for panoramic ocean views. Best at sunrise (5–6 AM).
- Seopjikoji: A scenic cape with windmills, horse pastures, and the Genius Loci art installation. Famous as a drama filming location.
- Jeju Folk Village Museum: Traditional Jeju stone houses and haenyeo culture exhibits.
- Evening: Fresh seafood dinner in Seogwipo City.
3Days 3–4 — Hallasan & Departure
- Hallasan National Park: Hike the Eorimok Trail (3.7 km) or the longer Seongpanak Trail (9.6 km) to Korea's highest peak at 1,950 m. Advance reservation required.
- Jeju Black Pork BBQ: Jeju's signature dish — black pig pork belly grilled over charcoal. Try it in the restaurant alleys near Dongmun Market.
- Day 4: Return rental car, last shopping at Dongmun Traditional Market, fly back to Seoul.
💡 Jeju Travel Tips
A rental car is essential for Jeju — public transport is limited. International Driver's License required. Book flights and accommodation well in advance, especially during peak season (July–August, cherry blossom season in April). Jeju has no visa requirement for most nationalities.
